1. My energy source is hydropower, hydro meaning water. This energy comes from the force of moving water, weather fast or slow. This source of power can produce a good amount of energy.
2. Hydropower is renewable. It's renewable because the flow of the moving water will not stop unless it is stoped by man.
3. The hydropower plant in Louisiana is in Toledo Bend. The Toledo Bend Reservoir goes across the boarder of Texas and Louisiana. The dam is in between Newton County, Texas and Sabine Parish, Louisiana. Its perpose is to be a cleaner energy source for the cities around it.
4. The energy goes to the closest cities around the dam. Most of the energy from Toledo Bend goes to Texas because it's a bigger state and uses more energy. They use the energy for thier homes, schools, offices and so forth.
5.This source of energy is good for reducing pollution, but you have to dam a flowing river. This may disturb the wildlife and natural resources of the area. When damming the water way people may have to leave their homes due to flooding.
6. Three important facts about hydropower. 1.A reservoir is where water is stored. 2.A dam with gates that can be opened and closed to control water flow. To produce more energy you can increase the water flow. At night you can decrease it because less energy is used. 3.Globally, hydropower is a significant energy source, producing about 25% of the worlds energy.

1. Coal is my energy source. It is black. It consists of dead plants and animals from millions of years ago. It is mainly burned in louisiana for electricity. Coal is a fossil fuel.
2. Coal is nonrenewable. Since it was made millions of years ago, once we run out, there is no more.
3. Coal is located deep into the ground. One of the ways to get it is by surface mining. Usually when you surface mine, the coal is within 200 feet. The get to the coal, you must first remove the rocks and soil above it. Another way to get coal is called underground or deep mining. It is when the coal is several feet below the ground. They get to it by drilling for it with a shaft. These shafts can go down to 1,000 feet.
4. In louisiana, there is a coal mining company called the Red River Company. They mine for coal. They also export it. This company is located in Coushatta, Louisiana. We use it to make electricity.
5. The effects on using coal is both good and bad. It is bad because it pollutes the air when it is burned, but good because it is a good source to make electricity with.
6. Three important facts are that surface mining is used to extract the coal in louisiana. One of the first people to use coal was the North American Indians. They used it for fire to cook their pottery. They have four different types of coal, anthracite, bituminous, subbituminous, and lignite.
1. My energy source is biomass, biomass is any organic matter that can be used as an energy source. Examples of this is wood, garbage, crops, landfill gas, and alcohol fuels. Louisiana generates increasing tonnages of biomass waste annually. Some of Louisiana's organizations are Renewables Council of Louisiana (RCL), Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR),
Louisiana Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), and Louisiana Economic Development (LED). These companies are using wood as their biomass resource. There is currently a biomass plant called Argilectric Power Parrtners LTD in Calcasieu Parish.
2. Biomass is renewable because people keep supplying trash, so they always have something to burn.
3. There is only 1 biomass plant in Louisiana and it is in Louisiana. To create biomass you have to burn dead organisms to release and capture the fumes.
4. Everyone uses biomass in some way. We all use it by making a fire with wood or biobased pallets. Other ways are if you fuel your vehicle with ethanol or biodiesal, use products made of biomass, and buy clean electricity generated from biomass.
5. There are many benefits of using biomass. Some are reduced air pollution, reduced animals, food processing and municipal wastes, reduced use of landfills, reduced risk of wildlife, improved watershed quality, and economic and social benefits. There are some disadvantages also, like : biomass produces green house emission, it also takes more energy to plants, biomass collecting is difficult, and biomass crops are not available all year.
6. People have used biomass longer than any other energy source. Most biomass is in solid form, but it can also be in a liquid. Biomass is part of the carbon cycle.

1. My energy source is natural gas. Natural gas is an example of stored chemical energy. It was first put to use by the Chinese about 2,500 years ago.
2. Natural gas is nonrenewable. Natural gas is nonrenewable because it can't be reused.
3. Natural gas is located underground. It is recovered by piping it from underground. Power plants like Sasol in Westlake use natural gas.
4. Just about everyone uses natural gas. It can be used for heating, manufacturing, electricity, and industry.
5. One good effect of using natural gas is that it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel. A bad effect of using natural gas is that it is nonrenewable and eventually may run out.
6. Louisiana is one of the top ten states that produce natural gas. U.S consumption of natural gas is 23.7%. Natural gas is the second largest energy source used in the the United states.
1. My energy source is hydropower, hydro- meaning water. This energy comes from the force of moving water. It also produces energy at anytime or weather.
2. Hydropower is a renewable source.
It's renewable because it is replenished by snow and rain fall. So as long as the sun shines you won't run out of this energy source.
3. Toledo Bend, is where the hydropower plant is in Louisiana.
It is across the border of Louisiana and Texas. It started as a joint management project of Texas and Louisiana River Authorities.
4. The energy source goes to Toledo
Bend. It also goes to Texas. The energy goes into the cities and towns.
5. This energy source is good for the enviroment. But it also changes the enviroment. Damming rivers may be disturbed or damage a natural source area.
6. The biggest advantages of hydropower dams is their ability to store energy. It's easier to bulid a hydroplant on a river where there is a natural waterfall. Hydropower provides between 5 and 10 percent of the countries electricity. Depending on the rainfall.

1. My energy source is petroleum. Petroleum is a dark liquid oil you can find anyware. Millions of years ago animals died and over time their bodies were made into oil.
2. Petroleum is nonrenewable. Its nonrenewable because we can't make new petroleum it would take a very long time.
3. It can be found all over the world. To find petroleum they use pipes deep underground to drill for the oil. Most of it is found near Earth's crust.
4. The oil industries drill and produce the oil. After that the oil is shipped to manufacturers. They use the oil to make things we use everyday at home, work, etc.
5. Petroleum helps make plastic, medicines, and all kinds of things that help us. Still petroleum can spill into lakes, rivers, and oceans. It can even pollute the air.
6. The world consumes alot of oil ranging from 32%in Europe and 52% in the Middle East. Also the world consumes 30 million barrels of oil per year. 24% of the oil produced in 2004 was for the United States.

1. My energy source is wind. Wind is air moving all around us. Sometimes it is in small breezes or dangerous gust.
2. Wind is renewable because wind is a recurring thing that happens everyday depending on the location.
3. There are currently no windmill farms in Louisiana. Louisiana was going to have to have windmill farms built on its coast but the project was moved to Texas. Although Louisiana has no windmill farms it is still recovered in other states, through windmills. These windmills are found on wind farms. Windmills are really tall and look like giant fans. They are basically the concept of a pinwheel. The wind blows against the blades and cause them to spin and we then get energy from the rotation of these blades.
4. Wind energy can be transferred on a national grid. So anybody can buy wind energy even if the actually wind farm is in California! Wind energy is mostly used the supply electricity to homes, for basic necesssities of life.
5. Wind is renewable so we can make more of it. It is doesn't pollute the air, and it greener than some other energy sources. The only bad thing is sometime birds get hurt when they run into the blades.
6. There are different types of windmills also. Most look like pinwheels, but some have what appears to be giant egg beaters on the sides instead of blades. Also windmills don't have to be on land. Some are of shore and stick out of water. In 2008, 31 states had working windmills generating energy. Most were energy production was in the states of Texas, California, Iowa, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.

1. My energy source is geothermal energy. It is orgiginated in the earth's core. The energy is produced by extraction the earth's internal heat.
2. Geothermal energy is renewable because it is heat extracted from the earth's core.
3. Geothermal energy is located beneath the earth's surface. It's gathered by pumping either oil or water into the earth, letting it evaporate and then using the gasses that come out of the earth to run turbines that are connected to electrical generators.
4. Only four states have geothermal power plants in the United States. California has 34 geothermal power plants, which produce almost 90% of U.S. geothermal electricity. Nevada has 15 geothermal power plants.
Hawaii, Montana, and Utah each have one geothermal plant.
5. The advantage of geothermal energy is that it does not produce carbon dioxide emissions, and it is free after the initial setup. The disadvantage is that it requires very deep drilling, which is not cheap. The power plants can be noisy, creating noise pollution. The rocks below the surface are cooled by the water faster than they are re-heated, and so after 5-10 years of use, the site is no longer usable because the rocks are cold.
Because of this limited amount of time, and the cost of drilling, geothermal energy isn't very often used.
6. Geothermal energy can be generated in a large number of places. To get the heat from the earth, magma isn't required. Geothermal comes from the Greek words "geo" (earth) and "therme" (heat).

1. My energy source is petroleum. Petroleum is an oily, thick, and flammable. It is usually a dark-colored liquid. It also is a form of bitumen or a mixture of various parts hydrocarbons. It occurs naturally in various parts of the world, and commonly obtained by drilling. Petroleum is used in a natural or refined state as fuel, or separated by distillation into gas, naphtha, benzene, kerosene, and paraffin.
2. Petroleum is nonrenewable because it takes a million years to form.
3. Petroleum is located under ground. Engineers first have to find the right place where the petroleum is located under ground. After they find where the petroleum is under ground they then have to drill under ground to get the oil which is petroleum.
4. Petroleum is used by many of people and things. People use petroleum for their vehicles, lawn mowers, four wheelers, dirt bikes, boats, and weed eaters. Some of the things that use petroleum are school buses, transportation buses, airplanes, jets, crop dusters, and tractors. All of these sources use petroleum for gas so they can run.
5.One effect from petroleum in Lafourche Parish is from an increase in the oil production in deepwater fields of the Gulf of Mexico. Another effect from petroleum is that the prices change in crude oil and natural gas which messes up oil and gas productions in Louisiana’s offshore waters. Another effect from petroleum is gas because it pollutes our air and water. One good thing from the use of petroleum is gas because it makes our world a little easier for transportation.
6. The cheapest and safest way of transporting big shipments of petroleum is by pipeline. Petroleum is used all around the world. It is also found in other states and countries.

1. My energy source is coal. Coal is a fossil fuel formed from the dead rmeains of plants. It is bought to Louisiana so we can use it to create electricity. It is ceated from dead plants from millions of years ago. It is used in many industries to create poducts.
2. Coal is nonrenewable. It is nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form.
3. Coal is found deep within the ground. By surface mining people can find coal by digging deep into the eath. Depending on the amount of ground cover a person could aslo use deep(underground)mining.
4. Coal goes to a preperation plant for cleaning. So they can remove the rock, ash, sulfur, and other impurities from the coal. Now that the coal has been cleaned steel and ion industies use coal for smelting metals. Paper, brick, limestone, and cement industries use coal to make these products.
5. A bad effect of using coal is when you burn it the coal can create pollution in the air. A good effect of using coal is a person can create electricity in buildings which would create light, heat, and etc.
6. One important fact about this is that coal is used to start trains so they can transport people and products. A second important fact is coal can also help make a fire to create warmth and cook food. A third important fact is coal is used for the manufacturing of coke.
1. Describe your energy.
Uranium is neclear energy. Uranium can be found is soil, rocks, rivers, and oceans. Even food and human tissue. It is found all over the world. Uranium is heavy, shiny, and softer than steel and can rust.
2. Identify renewable or non-renewable and tell why.
Uranium is non-renewable because the eons it took to create them and mankinds inability to synthesize similar fuels readily.
3. Where is you energy sources located and how is it recovered?
Uranium is only found by mining. Many places mine for Uranium like Canada and Astralia. Companys that recover it are Cameco, Rio Tinto, Areva, KazAtomProm, BHP Billiton, TVEL, Navoi. Those are around the world. No uranium is mined in Louisiana, but New Orleans Imports it.
4. Who uses these energy sources and for what purpose?
France, the USA, China, Germany, Hugary, Spain, India, and many more all use Uranium. They use it for the same reason, Electricity.
5. Effects of using this energy source on the enviroment(good or bad)
Using Uranium in the enviroment cand be good but also bad. It can be could cause it provides us with a source that we use everyday, electricity, but uranium can also be used in a very bad way on the enviroment. Some countries use Uranium as weapon. They use Uranium to make Nuclear bombs. Another way Uranium can be bad in the enviroment is if someone is highly exposed to uranium it can cause very, very serious helth problems.
6. give three important facts about the energy that haven't been answered.
One fact about Uranium in Lousiana is that New Orleans imports it. Uranium's name came from the planet Uranus, which was discovered eight years earlier in 1791. Uranium is 40 times more naturally abundant than silver.

1. My energy source is Solar. Solar energy is a good efficient way to provide a non polluting energy source.
2. Solar energy is a renewable energy source. It is renewable because it is a panel that absorbs energy, and can be used for a long time, and they can be produced again and again. It cannot stop unless it is destroyed by weather or by man. Even then you may be able to repair it or get a new solar panel.
3. Solar panels are used to power places all around Louisiana and the world, solar energy is taken from the sun. The solar panels absorb the light energy coming from the sun and transfer it to electrical energy.
4. Solar energy powers businesses, street lights, homes, calculators, and even schools like mine. At my school we have 2 solar panels that are on top of the junior high building that are fed to a converter box that powers our science teachers room.
5. Solar panels are good way to provide a good non polluting energy source. It provides a good amount of energy and cuts cost on your electric bill. The downfall of these solar panels is that they are very expensive to buy and are very expensive to manufacture.
6. 1. if we used solar panels more on a lot more things then there would be a lot less pollution being put out into the atmosphere. 2. If we used solar panels more we would eventually start saving money since are electric bill would be a lot less. 3. If we used solar panels more we would be saving the non renewable energy sources so they will be at hand in case of emergency or if you cant get a solar panel.

1. My energy source is Solar. Solar energy is the generation of electricity from sunlight. It is more efficient way to create energy.
2. Solar energy is renewable. We will always have the sun to make energy. The sun will never go out and we can never run out of it.
3. Anywhere the sun shines is where you can find solar energy. There are nine solar power plants. They use mirrors to reflect sunlight onto receivers that collect the solar energy and convert it to heat.
4. Many businesses, homes, and schools(like ours) use solar energy. We have solar panels that are on top of our roof. They collect the sun's rays and turn them into heat.
5. A good effect it has on the enviroment is that there is no polluting. Making energy usually we have to put chemicals into the atmosphere creating pollution, but when using the solar panels we don't have to. One bad thing about this is that we have to buy the solar panels and they are very expensive.
6. 1) If people started using solar energy we could stop using the non-renewable resources to make electricity and heat. 2) In just one hour, the earth receives more energy from the sun than the entire world uses during a whole year. 3) While the solar energy heats different places, you can also heat swimming pools and cook with solar energy.
1.Wind is air in motion. It is produced by uneven heating of the earths surface by the sun.
2.Wind is a renewable resource because we will never run out of wind.
3.Wind energy can be recovered by wind turbines offshore and onshore and used for electricity. Louisiana doesn't have many , if any wind turbines. Although Louisiana doesn't get much energy from wind other places do. Some of these places include Sweden, Spain, California and other places in the midwest.
4. Wind energy is used for electricity just by everyday people. It benefits our lcoal and national economy by creating jobs and reducing America's reliance on imported energy. Some studies show that wind energy provides more jobs per dollar than most convential resources.
5. One of the numerous advantages to using wind energy is that it provides more jobs. Using wind energy for electricty also helps us save our nonrenewable resources for other things. Wind energy is one of our best alternatives.
6. Wind also offfers far-reaching benefits for public health because wind energy reduces conventional energy generation polluants. Wind energy is less costly than geothermal and solar energy. Wind energy is the fastest growing energy resources in the world.
1. My energy source is wind. Wind is moving air.
2. Wind energy is a renewable energy source. It is renewable because it can't run out. The wind mills don't use up the wind, they just use it to turn the turbine.
3. There are no wind mills in Louisiana. Wind mills are built in areas with high altitudes and no wind breaks, this increases the wind speed,. The states with the most wind energy production are California, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. Wind mills use wind to turn thier blades which is connected to the drived shaft that turns an electric generator to produce electricity.
4. Everyone uses this energy because it is used to make electricity, and we use electricity in our life so much.
5. Wind mills do not harm the enviroment becuase no fuel is being burned to turn the turbine that generates electricity. The only bad thing about wind mills is the sometimes birds get hurt flying into them.
6. There are two different types of wind mills. Most look like pinwheels but some look like giant egg beaters. Wind energy produces about 1.3% of the United States electricity. Some windmills aren't on land. Some are built on offshore and stick up out of the water.
1. My energy source is coal. Coal is black. It is made up of dead plants and animals that have decomposed over millions of years.
2. Coal is nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form.
3. Coal is deep under the surface of the earth. We get the coal by mining it.
4. Just about everyone in Louisiana uses coal. Coal is used to produce electricity in homes and in other places.
5. Coal is a good source to make electricity. coal can also be bad, it can be bad because coal pollutes the air when it is burned.
6. Three important facts about coal are coal is transported by train. It was first discovered by the Indians. And it can be mined two different ways.
TALMADGE B.
1. My energy source is biomass, biomass is plant material, vegetation, or agricultural waste used as a fuel or energy source. Biomass comes Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and water from the earth are combined in the photosynthetic process to produce carbohydrates or sugars. These sugars form the building blocks of biomass. The solar energy that drives photosynthesis is stored in the chemical bonds of the structural components of biomass. If biomass is burnt efficiently,
2. Biomass is renewable. It's renewable because it can be found in garbage. It is supplied by people so they will always have something to burn.
3.There is one biomass plant in Louisiana. To make biomass you must burn dead organisims to release and capture the fumes.
4. People in Louisiana use biomass by burning garbage in fields. They use it for boiling crawfish and all cooking outside. The purpose of biomass is to be able to create electricity and heat.
5. These are some advantages reduced air pollution, reduced animals, food processing and municipal wastes, reduced use of landfills, reduced risk of wildlife, improved watershed quality, and economic and social benefits. Here is some disadvantages. these residues is crop seasonality, which creates an
unsteady and unreliable fuel supply; and competing uses for the residue—corn stover is normally
used for animal feed or compost, and wheat straw is used for feed or animal bedding, all of which are established markets.
6.Biomass is part of the carbon cycle.Biomass can be converted to wood-energy pellets, which are used in heaters and furnaces in residential and commercial applications. Utility companies can also use them independently or in combination with coal to produce steam and electricity. Wood energy pellets are easy to handle, have high energy value, and are inexpensive to transport.
TALMADGE B.
1. My energy source is biomass, biomass is waste used as a fuel or energy source. Biomass is created when you burn waste.

1. My energy source is natural gas. Natural gas is an example of stored chemical energy. Natural gas is colorless, shapeless, and odorless.
2. Natural gas is nonrenewable. Natural gas is nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form.
3. Natural gas is located underground. With natural gas trapped under the earth it can be recovered by drilling a hole through the rock.
4. Just about everyone in louisiana uses natural gas. It can be used for heating, manufacturing, electricity, and industry. It's also used to produce steel, glass, paper, and brick.
5. One good effect of using natural gas is that it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel. A bad effect of using natural gas is that it is nonrenewable and eventually may run out.
6. Louisiana is one of the top ten states that produce natural gas. People transfer gas by pipelines. The main ingredient in natural gas is methane.
My energy source is natural gas. Louisiana is one of the top natural gas-producing states in the country. Louisiana ranks fifth in natural gas production.
Natural gas is nonrenewable. Natural gas is nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form.
Natural gas is located underground. It is recovered by piping it from underground. Louisiana has 15 natural gas storage facilities and its storage capacity is the highest in the nation.
Nearly one-half of Louisiana households use natural gas as their primary source for heating. Natural gas can also be used for electricity and manufacturing.
A good effect of using natural gas is that it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel. A bad effect of using natural gas is that it is nonrenewable.
One important fact about natural gas is that Louisiana ranks third in natural gas consumption in the U.S. Another important fact is that there will be a new pipeline for natural gas that will be 180 miles long and will extend from Carthage,Texas,to Perryville, Louisiana. Another fact is that about three-fifths of our state's natural gas production typically takes place in the OCS(Outer Continental Shelf).
1.My energy source is geothermal energy. It is power extracted from heat stored in the earth. It is heat energy that is produced by natural processes inside the earth. It can be taken from hot springs, reservoirs of hot water deep below the ground, or by breaking open the rock itself.
2. Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source because the heat is continuously produced inside the earth.
3. There is one geothermal energy power plant in Louisiana. The plant is located in Cameron Parish it is called Sweetlake. They recover this energy by digging under the ground and pumping the heated water and it comes to the surface.
4. We use this energy to heat our homes and buildings. We also use this energy to generate electricity. This is what they are trying to do at the plant.
5. It helps give off heat to our homes. The fact that it comes from nature and it is less operational costs. The bad thing about geothermal energy is that you have to dig underground and by doing this can cause noise pollution.
6. Three important facts about geothermal energy. 1. "geo" means earth and "therme" means heat. 2. it is now catching on as green biulding practices. And 3. using this energy can give you heat to heat up your homes.
1.Geothermal energy is my energy source. It is the power extracted from the heat stored in the earth. Its originated in the earth's core. Geothermal energy can be taken from resevoirs, hot springs, and breaking open the rock.
2.Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source because its heat is always continuously produced inside the earth.
3.There is one geothermal power plant in Louisiana called Sweetlake located in Cameron parish. They recieve geothermal energy by digging under the ground and pump hot water through pipes until it comes up to the surface.
4.People in Louisiana use geothermal energy to heat their buildings and homes. What the geothermal plants are for is to generate electricity.
5.Good because it gives off heat to our buildings and homes. is also good because doesn't produce carbon dioxide emmissions. and it comes from nature and it is less operational costs. bad because when recovering geothermal energy you have to dig it up causeing noise pollution.
6.Three important facts about geothermal energy:
1 this energy heats your homes and buildings.
2 "geo" earth "therme" heat(heat the earth)
3 it is starting as green building practices
